Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving day in the upper midwest is wintry. The wind has blown all night, mixed in with occasionally snow and freezing rain. After a rather mild fall, it was 12 degrees Fahrenheit at 7 AM this morning. It’s a good morning to hang around inside, enjoy the fire place, drink dark roasted coffee from Honduras, wonder if we’ll make the drive to friends this afternoon, all while being grateful for the love of a benevolent God.

And while I was doing my best to do nothing, Nevada Jack, my alter-ego, was pounding away at the keyboard… When he heard me report the temperature this morning, in Fahrenheit, a light went off in his little head--hence the previous post (I had to wait till he finished to get to the computer).

  2. Sometimes I love to make plans just because it feels so good to cancel them.

And oh...so that's who Nevada Jack is!

  3. Hi! I live in New Jersey, and we got a bit of snow last night, too. Just a bit of dusting on the grass.

I wish you and your family and friends a wonderful and happy day!

    Happy Thanksgiving, Sage!!

  4. Well--it got up to about 16 degrees F here today--and why I decided to make a 30 mile drive on backroads (that took an hour and a half each way) is beyond me (icy roads, white-outs, etc) but we made the trip was made safely and it was fun to see friends. The good thing about going to someone elses house is that I won't be eating turkey till the resurrection. My contribution was a couple of apple pies and some sweet potato cassrole (I take a perfectly healthy food--add enough butter and brown sugar and pecans to make it taste like candy--and serve it as a vegetable! -only on holidays).

  5. Hey Sage. Popped in from Michele's to commisserate over the weather system that seems to be slamming our entire region. Glad to hear you're inside and warm - sounds idyllic.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

  6. I'm in southern New England and it snowed here a tad this morning, but it was all melted by noon. I think its cold, but not ridiculously cold for Thanksgiving.

    Michele sent me.

  7. Hey Sage... we had snow here, about 5 inches. It was pretty.

Re: the Oh Yuck! book... it's pretty much for kids of all ages... I'd say, 6 and up? It's really educational too!
