My autobiography

Monday morning addition: If I decide to write a history of my blogging experience, I think this will be the cover I use. Back in the Spring of 2006, Murf created characters for the readers of her blog. I got wings and a halo, which were quickly revoked when I said something that irked her!
I was going to work on a short review of a couple of books I had recommended for the Summer Reading Challenge when I came across these... You may remember, a few days ago I told you Murf was working on a book cover for my autobiography (now if I can find somebody to write it--yeah, I know that I'm suppose to write my own autobiography but that would be no fun). Today she posted in her blog the above suggestions. Go over to Murf''s (where you can see these covers in all their glory). I suppose I should have you also vote for your favorite cover. By the way Murf, I've only broken one fly rod in my life, when I slammed the trunk lid on a split bamboo rod. Yes, I cried (I was just a kid and it was my dad's rod). A second by the way, Murf, you paddle a canoe, you don't row them. I'm surprised you didn't catch that with way you like double entendres.

Maybe I'll get the mini-reviews of two of my favorite southern books, The Ballard of the Flim-Flam Man annd The Old Man and the Boy, posted tomorrow or later this week.

  1. I like the 3rd. But probably only the first would appeal to men and women. Us ladies don't generally like situations where there's no bathroom.

  2. I like all three, but I am partial to green, so I prefer either of the first two!

  3. I prefer the green too. I really like the first two best, but the third seems appropriate for tales from the "frontier".

  4. GREAT book covers! I like them all

  5. I vote for number 3! Getting a ghost writer to do your autobiography? Tee hee!

  6. Okay Jane, I'll try not to take it personally that I chose the one I'm not in!

Kenju, I do like the green too, but I think the last one might be better if in color with the red rock (Murf, why did you make it b&w?)

Murf (shaking my head), you're the one with a black walled basement.

    Thanks Kontan and Diane

Mistress, know any ghost writers? Actually, one day, I do hope to have a book in publication (I should go back and edit my dissertation, but I never seem to have the time).

  8. Well then spanking isn't the same as paddling which isn't the same as rowing. :-)

The b&w was the only way to make the title show up and still have the rocks viewable in the background. Besides that, I think the eyes are now drawn to two things: the NO and the half nekid man in the picture.

  9. Murf - There is a difference between paddling and rowing as there is between rowing and skulling.

Sage - I shudder at the thought of my autobiography. I think I like keeping my past in a place where only I can select what parts I want seen by others.

  10. Ed - Actually there is no difference. They are all things I will never do in my lifetime. :-)

  11. Sage didn't I read somewhere you prefer spanking to paddling??

  12. Sage, don't answer Pat's question. Make him by the book.

  13. I remember EXACTLY what you said that irked me. How much of a woman am I? :-)

  14. I forgot Murf doesn't allow for my typepad ID so I can't post a comment over there.

I like number one with you and the dog and the broken hearts. They are all very good. She is quite the talent on those kinds of things.

I went to the challenge link too. I just finished Larry Brown's "A Miracle of Catfish" and I can promise you it doesn't get more Southern than Larry. I still have to do my review. You need to read Larry Brown if you haven't before Sage. His short stories "Big Bad Love" and his novel "Fay" are some of the best.

  15. Larry Brown? The old Piston's coach that left after saying he was not going to leave? Michiganders such as Karen and myself aren't allowed to read anything written by him. :-)

  16. murf - Larry Brown has played that same trick with most teams in the NBA

  17. Ed, At least in an autobiography, you can still leave that which belongs behind closed doors behind closed doors.

Murf, you don't know what your missing

Pat, I can be assured you haven't heard me express one preference over another, but the play on words I thought would have been enough to excite Murf

Ms Literary Agent: I can assure you (and Pat) there will be no discussion of spankings and the only kind of paddlings will be either in a canoe or maybe a few I received as a kid

Murf, I'm glad you remember, cause I sure don't

Deana, That book does sound good!

Murf and Diane: Are we talking about the same Larry Brown here? THe only NBA coach who wrote a book that I've read is Phil Jackson's "Sacred Hoops: Spiritual Lessons of a Hardwood Warrior"

  18. Picky, picky: paddling, rowing, what's the diff?

  19. I like the titles of the last two. But probably the picture in the first one best.

    Just photoshop yourself in there.

  20. "No Shoes, Shirts, Shaving" really needs to be published, Sage. Now that's a cover that will push books.

  21. The 3rd one would get a lot of male readers and is quite interesting. I can see it being a laidback, humorous memoir.

The first would be better for both sexes and I think nature lovers would be attracted to it more.
