It has been
a crazy week. The good news is that the
sun has continued to rise; only you couldn’t tell it by empirical evidence as
for weeks the sun has been tucked in behind gray clouds. Last Sunday it snowed a bit, then rain and
more rain and even more rain. And there
were the bombings in Boston, tainted letters mailed to Congress and our
President, and a fertilizer plant blowing up in Texas. With all this national news, we have been
able to put North Korea and other problems around the world out of our mind,
but you can be sure they’re still there.
Finally, yesterday, the rain stopped the clouds once again began
spitting snow. At least this morning, I
enjoyed a sunrise.
Sunrise this morning |
The sunrise. The cribbed logs. The promise of warmth next winter. These are things that anchor us. Great post and photos!
ReplyDeleteWon't be long and you'll be so caught up in the weather being hot and steamy you won't even remember what this was like!
ReplyDeleteSpring is late in many places it seems. We've definitely been cooler here in April than we have been in years.
ReplyDeleteHmm. I guess I'd rather have our snow than your flooding. Strange week, indeed.,
ReplyDeleteA sunrises and sunsets, they both really are more than a gift these days for us too. Gee, it's been one grey day after another, and it's so hard to believe how a grey day can become even greyer! Every now and then we catch a quick glance of the sun breaking through, but old mother nature is really holding any sign of spring out of the question! My friend in Aurora, Ill said they were all suffering floods, business and schools shut down. Sink holes in and around Chicago! It sure has been a tough struggle for many, much more than myself, merely dealing with more winter. It's all so depressing. So, how is your newest boat?
ReplyDeleteYes there is something odd this Spring. I wonder will we get a good Summer as a result.
ReplyDeleteIt's LITTLE BROWN HORSES on a SEE-SAW !. I was stumped on what's in the foreground of the first one even after I em-biggened it.
DeleteA week we will never forget. I hope your weather turns around soon.
ReplyDeleteMany a tragedy overshadowed many a tragedy. perhaps the clouds and snow were more fitting.
ReplyDeleteWith the bombings, ricin, and fertilizer explosion, I was hoping that our bad luck in three's is over and we are good for a calm stretch of peace.
ReplyDeleteWhat a terrible week. Before this, it would have seemed difficult to believe that someone sending ricin to the President would be only the 3rd biggest/worst story of a week.
ReplyDeleteIt had been a horrible week news-wise and your weather seemed to be the appropriate corresponding dreariness. That's quite the flooding in the playground.
ReplyDeleteseriously...you had snow again? crazy....the news def did not help last week...hoping three is a bit more sun in your world...and good news....we had a manhunt here in town last night...they had whole sections of the city locked down...
ReplyDeleteMuch too much crazy stuff going on right now.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine living in an area with "real" weather.
It was a bad time for all. But I refuse to be slaved to the news even if risking being ignorant. Somehow in between all of that, we must find time to appreciate the good as you have done with the beautiful pictures.
ReplyDeleteYes, you make a good point, Sage. So important to take things forward even in the midst of sad news.
