I haven’t been on the water since I took my sailboat out
late in September and was itching to be out while there were still some leaves
on the trees. Surprisingly, this fall
hasn’t been as colorful as last. This
year, we got adequate water. There are
some nice splotches of color, but nothing as spectacular as last year when we
were in a drought. I was only on the
water for a little over two hours, paddling about six miles. There were numerous ducks and kingfishers, a
few great blue herons, nearly a dozen abandon hornet’s nest, lots of falling
leaves and one turtle. I would have thought the turtles would have found their winter homes already, especially since there was no sun to speak of today. It was cool, in the low to
mid-40s with a few moments of sleet. The
wind was strong which made it feel cooler at times. Paddling by myself, I was attentive to the
scenery as I listened to the ripple of the water and the wind howling in the
trees. It was soothing to my soul, a
desperately needed outing. Enjoy the
photos…
wow that reflection shot on the water with the leaf color is cool..bet it was great to be out...but in all the color too...
ReplyDeleteIt look like you had a magnificent day. Those yellows and limes are very much like our entire autumn. Lovely photos.
ReplyDeleteI thought anyone who went into the woods over your way went donned in fluorescent bright clothes in case they are mistaken for a deer.
Right now it is just bow hunting and those guys have to get a good sight on the deer so I am not so worried about it. Gun hunting is Nov 15-30 and I probably won't be in the woods much then!
DeleteAmazing. Paddling through all these autumn colors must have been an absolutely breathtaking experience.
ReplyDeleteI love the photos you take on the water, especially this time of year. The water reflections are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment on my latest post. I appreciate the prayer! We are supposed to close on Wed.
Beautiful scene. I find myself relaxing just viewing them.
ReplyDeleteEven these small images bring me a sense of peace. At least until you show the bigfoot image in the last one. :)
ReplyDeleteNature's answer to Xanax. Thanks for the photos and the commentary. Would like to have been along.
ReplyDeleteLove the photos! It's almost like being there, but with me I'd be up the creek without a paddle for I knew what happened....ha!
ReplyDeleteamazing fall colours, such a lovely place to paddle a boat...
ReplyDeleteThe reflection picture looks like a Van Gogh! I would definitely blow that one up a bit and hand somewhere on a wall.
ReplyDeleteThat reflection shot makes me think of an impressionist painting. So beautiful. And the colors look nice to me.
ReplyDeleteThose are gorgeous pictures! So serene. I wish I was there!
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful. I love the heron taking off. Your surroundings are far more colourful than I've been seeing this year. Then again, I've been living with my head in a box whilst packing up my house.
ReplyDeleteI love the Great Blue Heron.
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are amazing. I especially like the autumn colours and the reflections on the water. You caught the beauty of nature, Sage. Hello again! :)

ReplyDeleteThe reflection shots are very attractive and induce meditation.
Those photos certainly paint a portrait of Autumn, Sage! Well done!!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful scenery! You have a great eye for photos!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you got out!
Thanks for visiting my site. My poor pup does put up with my ADHD. I love these shots. Do you find a different quality to your shots on your blog versus whatever picture viewer or editor your using??? I've noticed my blog washes out my photos a bit. Actually more than a bit. I feel like I need to edit shots separately just for my blogposts.
ReplyDeleteI haven't noticed them being washed out--I don't do a lot of editing of the photos except to make them smaller and sometimes cropping or lightening the shot.
