I haven’t been on the water since I took my sailboat out
late in September and was itching to be out while there were still some leaves
on the trees. Surprisingly, this fall
hasn’t been as colorful as last. This
year, we got adequate water. There are
some nice splotches of color, but nothing as spectacular as last year when we
were in a drought. I was only on the
water for a little over two hours, paddling about six miles. There were numerous ducks and kingfishers, a
few great blue herons, nearly a dozen abandon hornet’s nest, lots of falling
leaves and one turtle. I would have thought the turtles would have found their winter homes already, especially since there was no sun to speak of today. It was cool, in the low to
mid-40s with a few moments of sleet. The
wind was strong which made it feel cooler at times. Paddling by myself, I was attentive to the
scenery as I listened to the ripple of the water and the wind howling in the
trees. It was soothing to my soul, a
desperately needed outing. Enjoy the

wow that reflection shot on the water with the leaf color is cool..bet it was great to be out...but in all the color too...

ReplyDeleteI thought anyone who went into the woods over your way went donned in fluorescent bright clothes in case they are mistaken for a deer.
Right now it is just bow hunting and those guys have to get a good sight on the deer so I am not so worried about it. Gun hunting is Nov 15-30 and I probably won't be in the woods much then!

Thanks for visiting my site. My poor pup does put up with my ADHD. I love these shots. Do you find a different quality to your shots on your blog versus whatever picture viewer or editor your using??? I've noticed my blog washes out my photos a bit. Actually more than a bit. I feel like I need to edit shots separately just for my blogposts.
ReplyDeleteI haven't noticed them being washed out--I don't do a lot of editing of the photos except to make them smaller and sometimes cropping or lightening the shot.
