Why did this turn sideways? Union Station, Chicago |
I’m on the Southwest Chief, heading west to Flagstaff, Arizona, where I’ll then drive north Southern Utah to meet the grandson. I’m not really that old; I’m sure it’s just an honorary title! Anyway, I figure that for a year in which I’ve ridden tens of thousands of miles on the train, this is a great way to end out the year. I’m using my cell phone as a hot spot which is allowing me to share these photos from Chicago’s Union Station. Ain’t technology amazing! If I’m not around before hand, have a wonderful New Year’s Celebration!
It's sideways because it that way on the file.
ReplyDeleteWhere are those Corinthian order and pilasters. And isn't it amasing the a need to put the corbel.
And why are you going down to go up to Utah btw.
Love photos of trains stations. Thanks for these. Travel safely, grandpa.
ReplyDeleteVince, I rotated it when I saved it so it was upright... As for the trip, the train to Salt Lake City was sold out a month ago and where we're going is in SW Utah--it's a 5 hour drive from Flagstaff and 4.5 hours from SLC
ReplyDeleteThanks Ron!
I should have added this--Ron had a post a few days ago that highlighted the Los Angels Union Station. Check it out.
ReplyDeleteTechnology sure is incredible these days. Enjoy your trip and Happy New Year, J. :)
ReplyDeleteI'd love to be in Utah at the moment, but work calls. Have a good trip and visit.
ReplyDeleteCheers.
We're always to old to be grandparents in our own minds. Unfortunately the calendar has a mind of its own. Congratulations grandpa!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely trip! Congratulations on being a grandfather.
ReplyDeleteMy sister and her daughter took the train from Tallahassee, Florida to New York City. My sister says never again - although they enjoyed the dining car immensely.
..oh have a safe and enjoyable sight-seeing trip to such a lovely place! What an absolute cool way to end the year....giving hugs and kisses, and maybe, oh let's see a little toy train?!!!! Thanks for sharing one of my favorite train stations! A most happy new year for you too!
ReplyDeleteYou've PUT some miles on your grandfatherly frame this year, man! :)
ReplyDeleteYou too Jeff! Travel mercies go with ya!
