Trillum, one of my favorite spring wildflowers |
Last Friday, I went hiking with a fellow blogger. I found this little mushroom and thought I'd share a picture (especially for Ed Abbey). The ought to be more fungus growing as much rain as we've been getting.
Today was my annual trip to see the Detroit Tigers play. They were up against the Boston Red Sox. It rained almost all the way to Detroit, then it cleared up. When the game began, it was even warm in the sun. But that lasted until the fifth inning when the rain returned. It poured. I had on a rain coat and opened an umbrella for my pants, that I held between my knees. At the bottom of the eighth, they called a rain delay and later called the game, which is just as well as the Tigers were down 14-1.
Most everyone had left the stands! |

Beka, read the book! Do the work! Don't steal it, you'll get caught. BTW, who are you?
Hahahhaaa...oh too funny:) Ever find out who it was? Better not have been one of my kids;))
ReplyDeleteLovin' the rain here...but it should stay away when the Sox are playing;) (sorry)
:))
Dear heavens, I don't even comment on your reviews as I've not read the book and feel what on earth could I say that had any validity. Unless of course there is a universal aspect to the original work and you refer to it in your review.
ReplyDeleteI will say this though on the kid. She/he is a bit of a victim in all this. They have never had to split a sentence open and examine it's guts. And so have little clue how to even begin. Nor is this the fault of the parents or the teachers.
If we as a society lay track 150 years ago and have been running trains down it since. You can add all the carriages you like at the rear of the train none would say that the trip is equal for everyone.
My wife the professor is continually amazed that students are so stupid to not know how easy it is to catch cheaters these days. Some people just never learn.
ReplyDeleteBTW, glad your diabetes is getting under control, especially before your trip.
Cheers.
Sage .......... that blood report is fantastic! Got all your meds for the trip ... I'd like to have some sympathy for Beeka, but in the time she/he spent texting you the essay could have been a long way towards completion. Oh, well, grace, grace; is there such a thing as an honest copier??
ReplyDeleteSo wonderful that your blood sugar is under control. Great.
ReplyDeleteAnd Beka just wanted you to write that report for him/her, I think. :)
Sage that is better by .4 of a point better than my best A1c in the past 15 years. i think I found a portion of what you lost I bounced to 7.1 good going. You're getting this thing figured out.and that is cool.
ReplyDeletehahahahahaha On Beka. I am pretty sure you would have helped her if she could've held a dialog about the book.
Just found your blog through Lynn. Good luck on the sugar. It's critical. I'm looking forward to your literary expertise.
ReplyDeleteI can imagine a hot skillet, a little butter and that morel sizzling away. Thanks for the picture memory!
ReplyDeleteOur morel season was woefully short this year. It was too cold for them and then it immediately got to hot for them so we only had one picking of about 4 pounds total. (If you get three consecutive days above 80 degrees, which we got early in May, it kills off the morels for the year. So my share ended up about at one pound split three ways with my wife and daughter. Not much to have to get me through until next year.
blogger is giving me fits, trying to make me sign in every time I comment. but I've switched to Firefox and it seems to be working better. I tried to comment on this last night but it never went through. Glad to hear your sugar levels are doing so well.
ReplyDeletehahaha on the book report...dude, would love to be at the game...the Tigers spring training was 30 minutes from us when we lived in FL...went every year to as many as i could...and watched them play the rays all the time...sorry on the rain and loss....
ReplyDeleteThe Red Socks.. Rock! 14-1 :)
ReplyDeleteGood for you, Sage.. reading is essential to learning.
Dawn, stuff a sox in that mouth of yours! Tigers in the America League, Pirates in the National...
ReplyDeleteVince, having not read the book doesn't mean you can't comment on what I wrote, only on the validity of how I understood the book. I've written reviews of books for years, as a way to remember what books are about
Randall, does she google phrases within each student's paper?
Sleepy Head, I agree, he or she could have finished the paper with the effort they put in trying to get me to help them
Lynn, yep! And thanks
Mark, I hope I can keep it down starting next week when I am in SE Asia. I've done some serious carb counting and balancing of insulin needs. May you keep your Sugars down too, my Friend.
Happy Girl, I don't know the exact number, but I expect I've done 100s of reviews over the past six years. I may not do as many over the next 4 months as I will be traveling
Ed, I thought you'd like that photo! I let Storm have the morel, as he'd already found some others (we weren't looking for them, just happened on a few)
Charles, glad you were able to post and it sounds like you and your wife had a wonderful vacation out west.
Brain, a rainy day at the ballpark beats a good day in the office... even with the loss.
Pam, Good grief, another Red Sox fan... But seriously, thanks for stopping by.
You take very nice photos! I love the trillium. They are so simple and so pretty. They seem to bloom with just one flower per plant. A little gem of the forest.
ReplyDeleteThe trillium is beautiful - one of my favorite early flowers, too. Glad you are gaining control of your diabetes.
ReplyDeleteGreat news about the health report!
ReplyDeleteAnd that's a good idea about the umbrella for your pants. I usually wear some sort of poncho if it rains at the Bama games, but my pants always get soaked. Unfortunately, they don't allow umbrellas in the stadium.
Glad to hear the blood sugar level is getting under control. I will continue to pray for you.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, can you help me? I have to write a book review.
Where did my post go--darn Blogger!
ReplyDeleteWay to go buddy! Doesn't surprise me with you discipline and exercise!
John
I'm so glad you were able to get your blood sugar under control!!
ReplyDeleteMy best to you on your trip.
ReplyDeleteReally really glad about the blood reports. Really really sad about Beka. I hope other bloggers she and others contact react as you did
ReplyDeleteI'm really really excited about your trip. Just thought I'd continue in the "really really" vein and I am "really really" about all three things---though Beka makes me really really angry also
