The enemy tries to keep us too busy debating over issues that have nothing to do with bringing people to Christ. Sadly, the friend I'm concerned about is teaching a watered down version of Christ, leading his congregation to question the deity of Christ, which I think goes beyond a peripheral doctrine. I'm saddened because this church that I love is dieing before my eyes and doesn't even know it.Charleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11024815572538023803noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9454941.post-20489891713194547072007-05-04T08:41:00.000-04:002007-05-04T08:41:00.000-04:00Peri, sounds like an eventful childhoodPat, not se...Peri, sounds like an eventful childhood

Pat, not seeing the Wizard of Oz? Becuase it was a movie? I wish that I hadn't seen it--I remember watching it when I was about 6 or 7 and for the next half dozen years I was terribly afraid of tornadoes--having regular nightmares about them (i should blog about those dreams sometime)

Charley, I knew your request was a bit in jest. I think I know what you mean about people pulling away from theological roots. Although I'm not nearly as dogmatic as when I was younger, I still see "good theology" as important. however, when someone asks me about the faith, I talk about Jesus and encourage them to learn as much as they can about him.sagehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17499891950639742366noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9454941.post-48124464021623443912007-05-03T19:21:00.000-04:002007-05-03T19:21:00.000-04:00The Trinity is a mystery for me as well, something...The Trinity is a mystery for me as well, something that cannot be explained in concrete terms. I was jesting about your helping me prepare a defence for the Trinity. I, like you, am very interested in theology. I do not like to debate theology. I am saddend however, when one I am close to, that once embraced things like the Trinity, now is moving away from these foundational doctrines of our faith and leading others to do so as well. Grew up never getting to see the Wizard of Oz. At that particular point in time in my life my interest lay in the girls not what was happening at the front of the church. It has always amazed me how "my brand of christianity" is better than your "brand", to the point of meaning your brand ain't authentic. James Kennedy at Coral Ridge Presbytarin Church in Florida. I am Baptist! I could almost visualize your story taking place where I'm from in Southwest Arkansas!!!

I've often said that if I weren't Baptist I'd be a consertive Presbytarian! The doctrive of the Trinity has been at the forfront of my mind of late as a long time, former pastor of mine, has gone off the deep end on this note. We're not quite sure what he believes in this regard anymore. Maybe we should discuss theology sometime!!! Maybe you could help me as I prepare for a defence of my beliefs of this doctrine.Charleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11024815572538023803noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9454941.post-87545119817321321352007-05-01T14:53:00.000-04:002007-05-01T14:53:00.000-04:00Thanks for sharing this part of your life.
