Wildflowers and stuff

Can you guess the name of any of these flowers? (Some of them I don't even know).

I went on a wildflower hike this morning in a ravine area that’s located a few miles south of town. It was interesting, being in the company of several experts—academics who had to tell you the Latin name of a plant before they could recall the common name. I didn’t see any morels, but ramps (a strong onion like plant) were abundant.
Roses are red,
violets are blue...

A couple weeks back Kenju interviewed me. Two people then invited me to interview them. Click on their names to check out Murf's and Trailady's interview.

Last night I spent some time updating the links to my blog. I finally got Murf’s and Kenju’s and several other URLs updated as well as some others working. It also took me a while to figure out how to get my new profile picture. It’s a collage made up of small snapshots of my library and I posted it in the blog last month. If you want to go back and see if you can read any of the titles, click here.

  1. Gee the third one down is a wild violet...I have oodles of them in my front yard right now along with forget-me-nots that are taking over the world...they're even growing in the grass....

Do you have an abundance of wildflowers in your area this year? We have dandelions and every other manner of strange flowers popping up this year.

  7. Mistress, let 'em take over the grass, they're prettier!

    Thanks Michael

    Kenju, good job!

Lady of the Hills, I have to ask, is the bandaid due to overworking the one finger?

Gautami, they were in a nature perserve, so there was no harvesting, but they are beautiful. This time of the year, flowers are out, but they're all small. I'll get right on the scribblings, after a nap :)

  10. Simply stunning photographs. I know very little about flowers so I can't name any of them. But they are all certainly a pretty sight to see.

  11. I am so bad with names...my parents know everything. I just got some of those triangle ones from mom for the woods around the pond....they are called tri- something. Shoot I can't remember. I did find some "jack in the pulpits" down by our creek yesterday. Do they grow there too?

  12. I'm glad you enjoyed the flowers. I'm not the greatest with names but here are what I think they are.

    1. I have no idea
    2. bellwort
    3. violet
    4. trillium
    5. blue phlox

Deana, yes, there were jack in the pulpits just coming up (I've been told they should be called jack and jill in the pulpit since sexually, the plant swings both ways (that pulpit must be in a fairly liberal church!)
