I just recently meet a man who'd lived in Tuscon (and is an established author in his own right) and he knew Abbey and Peacock (he had little good to say about Peacock). btw, this meeting wasn't at the Festival, the man recently moved to this area.

Pia, The Liar's Club certainly wasn't the first memoir, but was being discussed by many as the break-through book for the genre. Wally Lamb had a lot to say about faith, but I haven't read him.

Shelly, your blog is blocked.sagehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17499891950639742366noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9454941.post-55246244117029223902010-04-24T22:04:50.660-04:002010-04-24T22:04:50.660-04:00The key to all great writing is in knowing the wor...The key to all great writing is in knowing the words come from someplace else.Shelly Rayedeanehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04110822096599541854noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9454941.post-85272611117568726762010-04-22T20:03:52.566-04:002010-04-22T20:03:52.566-04:00Interesting conference. I would be afraid that they would be totally different than how I pictured them from their writings.

On the plus side, there is nothing like an autographed book to jack up the price through the roof in the world of book selling. I learned this by pulling a first edition "Monkey Wrench Gang" book signed by Edward Abbey off the shelf of such a book store and learned that they were asking well over a thousand dollars for it. I gingerly put it back on the shelf and just admired the cover.Edhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13214319366049620074noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9454941.post-36861047262266665852010-04-22T13:28:38.985-04:002010-04-22T13:28:38.985-04:00Leni, you'll have to plan to make the 2012 eve...Leni, you'll have to plan to make the 2012 event!

Jen, there is truth that writers are fed by readers...

Vince, both of the Festival of Faith and Writing that I've attended have been very good events and even if one wasn't interested in writing, there would be much to learn at the Festival.sagehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17499891950639742366noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9454941.post-43863192314242305582010-04-22T13:11:49.988-04:002010-04-22T13:11:49.988-04:00Such Lit' gatherings can be very hit or miss. ...Such Lit' gatherings can be very hit or miss.
